The Ecusta Trail is Now Open!

The Ecusta Trail is officially open! The first six-mile paved section—stretching from downtown Hendersonville through Horse Shoe—is now ready for walking, biking, running, and wheelchair access  . When fully completed, it will extend 19.4 miles, linking Hendersonville and Brevard via an inspiring “rail‑trail” through fields, forests, streams, pastures, and charming mountain churches  .

Built on a former railway corridor dating back to the late 1800s, the trail offers a scenic slice of Western North Carolina’s beauty and heritage  . It’s designed as a linear park that welcomes people of all ages and abilities—whether you’re out for a stroll, a sprint, a ride, or a roll.

We’re excited to offer complimentary parking for trail users right here at Ecusta Market & Café—great for fueling up before or after your journey with coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a local draft beer or glass of wine. It’s our way of supporting the trail—and thanking you for choosing us as your trailhead destination.

Stay tuned—updates and amenities information can be found at EcustaTrail.org.
